28-year old guard Will Bynum is starting to heat up for the Detroit Pistons lately. In his last four games, Bynum is averaging 19.3 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Bynum has now played in 35 games (0 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 16.9 minutes, 6.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Detroit Pistons need to start giving Greg Monroe big minutes

Even if they Pistons have to hurt Ben Wallace’s feelings, they need to bring him off the bench to back up 22-year old rookie center Greg Monroe. In his last three games, Monroe is averaging 34.7 minutes, 13.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 2.3 steals per game. Monroe has now played in 34 games (3 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 20.1 minutes, 5.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. At 12-25 on the season, the Pistons need to start playing the younger guys and start looking to the future. That should start with Greg Monroe replacing Ben Wallace as the starting center and the sooner the Pistons make that move…..the better.

Tracy McGrady is showing signs of life for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 6 January 2011 at 5:49 pm

Starting point guard Rodney Stuckey has been sick as of late so the Pistons moved 31-year old Tracy McGrady into the starting lineup and he’s doing pretty good. In his last four games, T-Mac has averaged 31.0 minutes, 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.0 steal. He is shooting 50% (20 of 40) from the floor in those last four games. McGrady has now played in 35 games (6 starts) so far this year for the Pistons and he is averaging 19.2 minutes, 6.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. If the Pistons eventually deal Richard Hamilton, look for T-Mac to pick up more minutes going forward as he still seems to have something left in the gas tank.

Richard Hamilton is not happy coming off the bench for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 27 December 2010 at 11:02 pm

32-year old shooting guard Richard Hamilton is not happy being Ben Gordon’s backup. In Hamilton’s last two games, he has averaged 32.0 minutes, 25.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal off the bench. Hamilton shot 55.9% from the floor and 53.8% from three point range in his last two games off the bench. Hamilton has now played in 27 games (24 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 26.9 minutes, 14.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He is also shooting 41.7% from three point range so far this year. You had to know that Hamilton was eventually going to be coming off the bench when the Pistons signed Ben Gordon last season. It will be interesting to see if Hamilton sulks, demands a trade or steps up in his new role.

Greg Monroe is starting to step up in December for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 11:50 am

20-year old rookie PF/C Greg Monroe is really stepping up so far this month. Monroe has played in 9 games so far in December and he is averaging 25.3 minutes, 7.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He is shooting 56.3% from the floor in December but only 53.8% from the free throw line. Monroe has now played in 25 games (3 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 20.0 minutes, 5.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Pistons are not legit contenders for the playoffs so they should keep giving Monroe a lot of minutes the rest of the year.
