Jarvis Hayes is giving the Pistons just what they expected him to as he’s been solid off of the bench this season. Hayes has played in 33 games this season for the Pistons and he is averaging 17.6 minutes, 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He also is shooting really well as he is hitting 45.5% of his shots from the floor and 43.2% from three point range so far this season. Hayes is good enough to start if the Pistons run into any injury problems the rest of the season.

Richard Hamilton is having a good December so far. He has started six games this month and he has averaged 34.5 minutes, 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Chances are that Hamilton will be even better the rest of this month and that’s a good thing for the Pistons.

Jason Maxiell is pushing for more playing time on the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 4 December 2007 at 5:22 pm

Jason Maxiell is backing up Antonio McDyess for right now but he’s been very impressive so far this season and he might push McDyess to the bench at some point this season. Maxiell has played in 16 games so far this season and he’s averaging 23.3 minutes, 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He’s also hitting 52.1% of his shots from the floor but most of them are close to the basket. Still, Maxiell is one of the more physical power forwards in the NBA and he deserves to play more than he is right now.

Chris Webber has starting to wear down, so the Pistons needed someone to step up their game and Antonio McDyess has been that guy.  McDyess has played in 7 games (1 start) the last two weeks and he has averaged 11.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots in those games.  He also has shot 53.3% from the floor which has really helped out the team lately.  The Pistons will need McDyess to keep playing at this level if they want to win another NBA Title.
