20-year old rookie PF/C Greg Monroe is really stepping up so far this month. Monroe has played in 9 games so far in December and he is averaging 25.3 minutes, 7.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He is shooting 56.3% from the floor in December but only 53.8% from the free throw line. Monroe has now played in 25 games (3 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 20.0 minutes, 5.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Pistons are not legit contenders for the playoffs so they should keep giving Monroe a lot of minutes the rest of the year.

If Greg Monroe starts shooting better he’s going to get a lot of P.T. for the Detroit Pistons

20-year old PF/C Greg Monroe has a giant upside as long as he improves his shooting. Monroe has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 17.1 minutes, 3.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Monroe has only shot 35.9% from the floor and a very awful 27.8% from the free throw line so far this year. The Pistons need a rebounder to play power forward to team with Ben Wallace and Monroe fits that mold. If Monroe improves his shooting he will start getting a lot of P.T.

The Detroit Pistons got a nice haul last June in the NBA Draft

23-year old power forward Jonas Jerebko made the biggest impact for the Pistons out of the draft picks this year. He played in 80 games (73 starts) for the Pistons this season and he averaged 27.9 minutes, 9.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He could be a starter for a long time on for the Pistons. 21-year old small forward Austin Daye also showed some potential for the Pistons despite his thin frame. He played in 69 games (4 starts) for the Pistons this season and he averaged 13.3 minutes, 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He could also be a starter down the road for the Pistons. 22-year old forward DaJuan Summers looks like backup material. He played in 44 games (0 starts) for the Pistons last season and he averaged 9.2 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.4 assists per game. The Pistons hope they will bring in a similar load of talent in this year’s NBA Draft.

The Detroit Pistons are happy with their rookie crop so far

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 24 February 2010 at 10:06 pm

The Pistons didn’t expect their rookies to play that much this season due to the fact that they have a lot of veterans on the roster. But, Jonas Jerebko has sure been playing a lot at power forward this season for the Pistons. He has played in 53 games (46 starts) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 27.2 minutes, 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Small forward Austin Daye has been so-so this season for the Pistons. Daye has played in 45 games (2 starts) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 12.8 minutes, 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Forward DaJuan Summers has not gotten much playing time this season for the Pistons. Summers has played in 24 games (0 starts) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 8.6 minutes, 2.5 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game.

The Detroit Pistons are probably somewhat pleased with the trio of rookies they have

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 9:36 am

Forwards Jonas Jerebko, Austin Daye and DaJuan Summers have all been decent this season and their playing time will likely increase if the Pistons keep losing at the rate they are right now. Jonas Jerebko has been the best of this bunch so far this season without a doubt. He has played in 31 games (30 starts) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 27.8 minutes, 8.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Austin Daye has been decent when he has gotten on the floor this season. He has played in 30 games (1 start) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 18.6 minutes, 4.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Daye has a very similar body style to that of Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons can only hope that he will be at least as good as Prince. Summers has played in 19 games (0 starts) this season and he is averaging 9.1 minutes, 2.7 rebounds, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game. It’s important to the future success of the Pistons that these three players continue to improve.
