Detroit Pistons 96, Indiana Pacers 88

The Pistons were up 82-64 after three quarters but the Pacers made a comeback, before they were put away for good. The Pistons outrebounded the Pacers 49-36 in this game and they held Indiana to 39.5% shooting from the floor, which were the two biggest reasons for this win. Jonas Jerebko (20 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) and Greg Monroe (19 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Pistons tonight. Ben Gordon (16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal), Rodney Stuckey (15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists) and Tayshaun Prince (12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) also pitched in for the Pistons tonight. The Pistons are now 1-3 on the year.

Boston Celtics 96, Detroit Pistons 85

The Pistons were down 86-64 after three quarters, so this game was nowhere as close as the final score suggets it was. The Pistons didn’t play any D in this game as the Celtics shot 52.2% from the floor. Greg Monroe led the way for the Pistons in this game with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Austin Daye pitched in with 11 points and 5 rebounds in only 16 minutes on the court. Tayshaun Prince, Jonas Jerebko and Brandon Knight pitched in with 10 points apiece for the Pistons last night. The Pistons are now 0-3 on the year.

20-year old rookie point guard Brandon Knight is off to an outstanding start to his career for the Pistons. In his first 2 games (0 starts), Knight is averaging 22.5 minutes, 16.0 points, 1.0 rebound, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting 59.1% from the floor (13 of 22) and 54.5% (6 for 11) from three point range so far this year. It’s only a matter of time until Knight bumps Ben Gordon or Rodney Stuckey to the bench if he keeps playing like he is right now.

The Pistons got flat out pushed around last night by the Cavaliers in the home opener. The Cavaliers outrebounded the Pistons 40-26 and they shot a sizzling 57.1% from the floor in this game. Ben Gordon (25 points, 4 assists and 1 steal) and Brandon Knight (23 points, 1 rebound, 6 assists and 2 steals on 10 of 13 shooting from the floor in 29 minutes) led the way for the Pistons in this game. Rodney Stuckey (11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists), Tayshaun Prince (10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist) and Greg Monroe (10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) also pitched in for the Pistons in this game. The Pistons are now 0-2 on the year.

The Pistons only shot 36% from the floor tonight and they were outrebounded 53-40…..and that’s what did them in. Jonas Jerebko led the way for the Pistons with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in his first game in over a year. Rodney Stuckey also had a solid game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. Ben Gordon only shot 4 of 14 from the floor and he turned the ball over five times, but he still finished up with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. The Pistons are now 0-1 on the year.
