Austin Daye might get his big shot with the Detroit Pistons in 2011-12
The Detroit Pistons might finally give 23-year old small forward Austin Daye a chance to start in 2011-12. Daye played in 72 games (16 starts) for the Pistons last year and he averaged 20.1 minutes, 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He has now played in 141 games (20 starts) in his first two years with the Pistons and he is averaging 16.7 minutes, 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. 23-year old Kyle Singler is the only other small forward currently on the Pistons’ roster. He was a second round pick out of Duke. The Pistons might elect to sign a free agent or deal for a small forward before the season starts, but if they don’t, Austin Daye will likely be his big shot to show what he can do in 2011-12.
UPDATE: (11/29/2011) - Kyle Singler has decided to stay with Real Madrid the rest of the year. The Pistons will retain his rights.
