31-year old shooting guard Tracy McGrady is a shell of the player he used to be, but he is stepping up so far in January. T-Mac has played in 13 games so far in January and he is averaging 30.8 minutes, 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He has now played in 46 games (15 starts) for the Pistons this year and he is averaging 22.0 minutes, 7.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game on 45.8% shooting from the floor. Is Richard Hamilton on the way out for the Detroit Pistons?

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 28 January 2011 at 10:04 am

32-year old shooting guard Richard Hamilton has been benched. While the Pistons do have a lot of guards in Rodney Stuckey, Tracy McGrady, Will Bynum and Ben Gordon it still doesn’t make much sense that Hamilton is getting treated the way he is. He has not played in the Pistons last nine games. Hamilton has only played in 4 games this month for the Pistons in which he is averaging 20.8 minutes, 9.0 points, 0.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists per game. He is only shooting 34.3% from the floor this month. Overall this year, Hamilton has played in 34 games (24 starts) in which he is averaging 25.8 minutes, 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Hamilton is currently #9 in Pistons’ history in games played (610), #9 in three pointers made (1,122), #7 in assists (2,335) and #6 in points scored (11,254). It will be interesting to see if Hamilton gets dealt in the coming weeks.
