Tayshaun Prince is what he is for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 25 November 2010 at 9:19 pm

30-year old forward Tayshaun Prince always seemed a tad overrated to me. Sure, he’s a pretty good defensive player but his contributions on offense are below par for a starting small forward in the NBA. Prince has played in 15 games (all starts) for the Pistons this season and he is averaging 32.3 minutes, 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He has now played in 598 games (559 starts) in his 9 years in the NBA and he is averaging 33.4 minutes, 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The Pistons would be smart to deal Prince this season and give his minutes to some of the younger players on the roster as they are now in a rebuilding mode.

If Greg Monroe starts shooting better he’s going to get a lot of P.T. for the Detroit Pistons

20-year old PF/C Greg Monroe has a giant upside as long as he improves his shooting. Monroe has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 17.1 minutes, 3.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Monroe has only shot 35.9% from the floor and a very awful 27.8% from the free throw line so far this year. The Pistons need a rebounder to play power forward to team with Ben Wallace and Monroe fits that mold. If Monroe improves his shooting he will start getting a lot of P.T.

Austin Daye has been pretty soft so far this year for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 12 November 2010 at 10:04 pm

22-year old Austin Daye has played in 8 games (all starts) for the Pistons so far this year and he is averaging 21.4 minutes, 8.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He is only shooting 38.8% from the floor this year but he is a very good 10 of 21 (47.6%) from three point range. With Austin Daye & Tashaun Prince starting at forward the Pistons are getting pushed around under the basket and that can’t continue to go on much longer.

Detroit Pistons 97, Charlotte Bobcats 90

The Pistons played really hard last night and the result was a nice home win over the Bobcats. Ben Gordon led the way for the Pistons in this game with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Richard Hamilton pitched in with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist off the bench last night. Tayshaun Prince (14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists), Tracy McGrady (10 points) and Charlie Villanueva (10 points) all pitched in for the Pistons last night. The Pistons are now 1-5 on the season.

Atlanta Hawks 94, Detroit Pistons 85

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 4 November 2010 at 7:26 am

The Hawks shot 53.7% from the floor last night and that was just too much for the Pistons to overcome. Ben Gordon led the way for the Pistons last night with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot. Tayshaun Prince also had a decent game finishing up with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Charlie Villanueva pitched in with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot off the bench. The Pistons are now 0-5 on the year.
