The Detroit Pistons sign Ben Gordon

The Pistons have signed 26-year old shooting guard Ben Gordon to a 5-year, $50 million dollar contract. Gordon played in 82 games (76 starts) for the Bulls last season and he averaged 36.6 minutes, 20.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Look for the Pistons to be moving Richard Hamilton in a trade as he likely can’t co-exist with Gordon. Gordon has now played in 398 games (204 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 31.4 minutes, 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Gordon brings a great shooting touch to the Pistons as he has nailed 41.5% of his three point attempts in his NBA career to date. I like this signing for the Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons sign power forward Charlie Villanueva

The Detroit Pistons have signed 24-year old power forward Charlie Villanueva to a 5-year, $35 million dollar contract. Villanueva will immediately step into Rasheed Wallace’s old spot in the starting lineup. He played in 78 games (47 starts) for the Bucks last season and he averaged 26.9 minutes, 16.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. The Pistons are expecting Villauneva to put up big numbers with more playing time. He has now played in 274 games (131 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 26.5 minutes, 13.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. This signing is a tad risky as Villauneva doesn’t always appear to be playing full go all the time, but no one doubts his playing ability.
