The Detroit Pistons have some hard decisions to make

The Pistons will have to make some hard decisions with their free agents. Forward Rasheed Wallace is probably the most important player in this category. He played in 66 games (63 starts) for the Pistons last season and he averaged 32.2 minutes, 12.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. Wallace is one of the team leaders of the Pistons and he still has some game left so they should consider re-signing him as long as the price doesn’t get too high. Antonio McDyess also had a solid season for the Pistons last year. He played in 62 games (30 starts) for the Pistons last season and he averaged 30.1 minutes, 9.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. McDyess would likely come cheaper than Wallace if that’s the route the Pistons take but they do need to keep one of them. The Pistons have a logjam at guard which will likely lead to Allen Iverson leaving the team. A-I played in 54 games (50 starts) for the Pistons last year and he averaged 36.5 minutes, 17.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Iverson will likely want to go where he would be the focal point of the offense. C/F Kwame Brown will likely exercise his player option for the 2009-2010 season because of two reasons: 1) He’s not that good and 2) The economy. Brown played in 58 games (30 starts) for the Pistons last year and he averaged 17.2 minutes, 4.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.
