The Pistons have re-signed power forward Amir Johnson to a three year, $12 million dollar contract.  Johnson only played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Pistons last season and he averaged 15.5 minutes, 5.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists and blocked 1.6 shots per game.  He shot 54.5% from the floor and 78.6% from the free throw line.  Johnson was dominant in the Developmental League and that was the reason for the nice paycheck he will receive.  He played in 22 games for Sioux Falls last season and he averaged 35.1 minutes, 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.1 blocks per game.  Look for Johnson to get a lot more playing time this season for the Pistons as it appears that he is very talented.

The Pistons have re-signed Chauncey Billups to a 5 year, $60 million dollar contract.  Re-signing Billups was a smart move by the Pistons as he makes the whole offense run smoothly.  The Pistons now can focus on upgrading their team at center now that they don’t have to worry about point guard.

The Detroit Pistons let Will Blalock walk

The Detroit Pistons did not pick up reserve point guard Will Blalock’s contract option which will make him an unrestricted fee agent.  Blalock only played in 14 games (0 starts) as a rookie and he averaged 11.9 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game as a rookie.  He didn’t shoot too well as he only hit 30% of his shots from the floor but he did make all of his free throws.  Blalock became expendable when the Pistons selected three guards in this year’s draft.
