Will Blalock was nailed to the bench by the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 20 April 2007 at 9:27 am

The Pistons are a very veteran team so rookies don’t get much playing time.  Blalock was the Pistons lone Draft pick this season and he didn’t get much of an opportunity to show what he’s got on the floor.  He played in 14 games and he averaged 11.8 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.  He only shot 9 of 30 (30%) from the floor this season.  Blalock will have to look good in off-season workouts if he wants to make the Pistons next season.

The 2006-2007 Detroit Pistons by the numbers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Pistons News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 11:30 am

The Pistons have won the Central Division again with a 53-29 record and they have secured the #1 seed in the NBA Playoffs.  The Pistons were equally good at home (26-15) and on the road (27-14) this season.  The Pistons dominated the Eastern Conference with a 36-16 record against them and they were 9-7 against the Central Division which was only the third best record in the division behind the Bulls (12-4) and the Cavs (10-6).  The Pistons averaged 96.0 points per game and held their opponents to 91.8 points per game.  The Pistons have won 7 of their last 10 games, so they’re coming into the playoffs on a good roll.

The Detroit Pistons on cruise control until the weekend

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 17 April 2007 at 11:45 am

The Pistons will try to use their last two games to rest their starters and get the bench some extended playing time in case they are needed for the playoffs.  The Pistons need to keep Jason Maxiell, Antonio McDyess and Carlos Delfino sharp for the playoffs because the starters aren’t getting any younger for the Pistons.  The Pistons are 51-29 right now, which kind of shows the weakness of the Eastern Conference as Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio and Houston all have better records than the Pistons do.  But, if the Pistons get to the NBA Finals, anything can happen in a 7 game series.

The Detroit Pistons need more from Flip Murray

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 12:56 pm

With the playoffs coming up, Flip Murray picked an awful time to begin playing poorly.  In his 6 games in April, Murray has averaged 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.  He has shot so poorly, hitting only 29% from the floor that he could lose his spot in the rotation for the playoffs if he doesn’t play better in the last couple of games.

Antonio McDyess is steppin’ up for the Detroit Pistons

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 12:22 pm

Chris Webber has starting to wear down, so the Pistons needed someone to step up their game and Antonio McDyess has been that guy.  McDyess has played in 7 games (1 start) the last two weeks and he has averaged 11.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots in those games.  He also has shot 53.3% from the floor which has really helped out the team lately.  The Pistons will need McDyess to keep playing at this level if they want to win another NBA Title.
