The Pistons need Rasheed Wallace & Flip Murray to play better

Blogged under Need to step up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 3:30 pm

Both Rasheed Wallace and Flip Murray have been struggling with their shot lately and it’s hurt the Pistons offense.  Rasheed Wallace has not played well in his last 8 games (6 starts) as he’s only averaging 10.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocked shots.  He’s only shot 37.5% from the floor and has only hit 8 of his last 28 three-point shots and he needs to improve that for the Pistons to start to roll in the Eastern Conference.

Flip Murray has not played well in his last 8 games (5 starts).  In those games, Murray has averaged 9.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steals.  The problem with Murray has been his shooting as he’s only hit 36.1% from the floor and the Pistons need him to be much better than that if he’s going to continue being the first guard off the bench.

Tayshaun Prince is playing well

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 3:23 pm

Tayshaun Prince is really steppin’ up lately.  In his last 8 games, Prince has averaged 17.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 block per game.  His improved offensive play really helped the Pistons with Chauncey Billups out.  There is no reason to think that Prince can’t keep up his current pace.  The only thing that he really could improve on would be his rebounding which is a little weak for a starting forward in the NBA.

The Pistons dominated this basketball game from start to finish.  The Pistons coasted in the 4th quarter after building a 75-49 thru three quarters.  The Pistons were awesome on defense as they held the Kings to 35.5% shooting from the floor and they outrebouned the Kings 52-40.  Richard Hamilton led the way for the Pistons with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists.  Tayshaun Prince also had a solid game with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Pistons prevail in double OT 104-98 over the Timberwolves in Minnesota

Blogged under Game Recaps, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 20 January 2007 at 3:26 pm

The Pistons played good defense as they held the Wolves to 39.8% shooting from the floor.  But the most important factor in this game was when Antonio McDyess got into a scuffle with Kevin Garnett in the 4th quarter and both of them were ejected.  Richard Hamilton led the way for the Pistons with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.  Chauncey Billups also had another solid game with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists.  Rasheed Wallace had a good all-around game with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.  Chris Webber really looked good last night too with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Pistons improved to 22-16 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270119016

The Pistons played hard last night but the Jazz were just a tad better.  Chauncey Billups came back from injury with a big game.  He scored 26 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.  Tayshaun Prince also had a good game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocked shots.

The Pistons fell to 21-16 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270117008
