Point Guards

Chauncey Billups had the best year of his NBA career last season and he looks to do ever better this year.  Billups averaged 18.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists.  Those numbers are way above his career averages of 14.3 points per game, 2.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists.  It helps to be the trigger man on a good team, but he dazzled often times with his passing after being a shot-first point guard most of his career.  Billups is a good 3-point shooter (38.8% for his career).  Billups also makes teams pay for fouling him as he has connected on 88.1% of his free-throws over his career.  Chauncey also posts up alot of smaller point guards and gets points in the paint.

Lindsay Hunter is an old war horse that gives the Pistons productive minutes off of the bench.  Hunter is still a good shooter and defender, but even in his heyday was never a big offensive threat.  Over his 820 game NBA career, he only has averaged 9.2 points per game.

Flip Saunders

Many questioned the Pistons hiring of Flip Saunders as head coach.  Most felt that Saunders was too nice of a guy and would get bullied by the team, but that never happened.  Saunders led the Pistons to a 64-18 record in his first season in Detroit.  In his 11-year career as an NBA head coach, Saunders has compiled a 475-344 record.

With the Pistons, Saunders had a 10-8 playoff record last season as the Pistons lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.  In nine playoff appearances Saunders has a record of 27-38.
